I have a similar complaint that you see over and over again on the web, and that is that you just can’t cancel your subscription to some of these places without jumping through plenty of hoops.
I signed up for Intelius and started to look around and then decided that I did not want to remain a member. Fair enough right. I followed the the instructions on the site for cancellation and thought that would be that. Well I looked at my credit card statement and sure enough there were 2 charges on there from these guys. Apparently the sign you up for a second membership when you are go through the process, so they did not cancel either of mine.
I called and complained and after I screamed and threatened to report them, the finally reversed the charges. Absolutely ridiculous.
